Seit mehr als vierzehn Tagen bläst der Wind aus Osten durch die Straße von Gibraltar. Im Wetterbericht wird eine Flautenphase von Montag bis Mittwoch vorhergesagt, die wollen wir nutzen, danach beginnt wieder der Ostwind zu blasen. Montagvormittag besorgen wir noch rasch frisches Brot, bevor wir in der Marina Herkules ablegen. Doch noch bläst Ostwind, wir segeln hart am Wind Richtung spanischer Küste. Dabei können wir zwei Mondfische an der Wasseroberfläche beobachten. Vorerst haben wir auch noch Strömung gegen uns. Obwohl wir vier Knoten Fahrt durch das Wasser machen, stehen nur wenig mehr als zwei auf dem GPS. Doch vor uns sprudelt und schäumt es an der Oberfläche. Wir segeln in ein anderes trömungsband und gleich geht es mit über fünf Knoten über Grund. Aufmerksam beobachten wir die ins Mittelmeer ein- und auslaufenden Frachtschiffe, die wie auf Schienen hintereinander herfahren. Gibraltar wandert schön langsam an die Backbordseite, der 848 m hohe Djebel Sidi Musa an der afrikanischen Küste, wird von uns aus gesehen langsam kleiner.

Als wir die beiden Schifffahrtsstraßen passiert haben, schläft auch der Wind ein. Unter Maschine ändern wir den Kurs auf Ost, Richtung Cabo de Gata, noch über 150 Meilen entfernt. Gut, dass wir noch alle Filter und das Motoröl in Gibraltar getauscht haben, beruhigend gleichmäßig schnurrt der Motor. Mit einem halben bis einem Knoten hilft uns die Strömung auf unserer Fahrt. Den Radarwarner schalten wir am Abend erst gar nicht ein, ununterbrochen tauchen auf der Steuerbordseite Frachtschiffe auf, fahren vorbei und verschwinden wieder im Dunst. Bei Einbruch der Nacht können wir gerade noch Gibraltar und den Djebel Sidi Musa mehr als vierzig Meilen hinter uns erkennen. An Backbord flammen die Lichter an der Küste auf, wir passieren eine spanische Stadt nach der anderen. Am nächsten Morgen passieren wir Marine del Este, wo wir vor fast einem Jahr geankert haben. Nachmittags tritt die Küste an der Bucht von Almeria zurück, vor uns erscheint das Cabo de Gata. Um 22h passieren wir das Katzenkap, neuer Kurs Ostnordost auf Cabo Paleo zu.
Eine weitere Nacht unter Motor, erst am nächsten Vormittag kommt soviel Wind auf, sodass wir zur Unterstützung die Segel setzen. Nach dem Mittagessen ist Motor aus, der Wind reicht, um zügig voranzukommen. Ich hole nochmals den Wetterbericht über Funk, leider bestätigt die Vorhersage
frühere Meldungen, in der Nacht von Mittwoch auf Donnerstag soll der Wind wieder auf Nordost drehen, genau die Richtung, wo die Balearen, unser nächstes Ziel, liegen .Vor Cabo Paleo frischt der Wind auf, nur unter Genua machen wir bis zu sechs Knoten. Der Wind reicht noch eine Meile um
das Kap herum, dann lässt er merklich nach, vor uns sehen wir bereits die Einfahrt ins Mar Menor, wo wir bleiben wollen, bis die Winde für uns wieder günstiger wehen. Wir segeln geruhsam mit zwei bis zweieinhalb Knoten dahin, die letzte Brückenöffnung in der Zufahrt zum Mar Menor ist laut
Handbuch um 22h, da haben wir noch jede Menge Zeit. Eine Meile bevor wir die Einfahrt erreichen, es ist 21h, geht die Brücke auf, das schaffen wir nie, wir fragen bei einem auslaufenden Segelboot, ob die Brücke nochmals öffnet, nein heute nicht mehr, erst morgen um 9h, ist die Antwort. Also gehen
wir südlich der Einfahrt in einer Marinabaustelle vor Anker, rundherum die eisernen Spundwände, kein schöner aber ein sicherer Ankerplatz. Kurz nachdem wir vor Anker gegangen sind, dreht der Wind bereits auf Nordost, es war eine gute Entscheidung, nicht direkt weiter zu den Balearen zu
segeln.
